Mia Aesthetics is proud to have Dr. Abel Giorgis be a part of the Mia Aesthetics Miami team. Originally from Ethiopia, Dr. Giorgis moved to the suburbs of Washington D.C. when he was young. There, he eventually began his medical training at Howard University. Dr. Giorgis then completed his residency and fellowship in general surgery, burn surgery, and plastic surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
Following his plastic surgery fellowship, Dr. Giorgis went on to work professionally as a plastic surgeon in the Washington D.C. area. Overall, Dr. Giorgis carries an impressive fourteen years of experience. This includes his schooling, residency, fellowship, along with an additional two years of working at an esteemed plastic surgery clinic.
Given his extensive training and experience, Dr. Giorgis has had a chance to practice multiple aspects of the plastic surgery field. These range from actual surgery, to the business side, to mentoring. This provides him with a distinctive edge.
While he has accomplished an impressive list of feats throughout his diverse medical journey, Dr. Giorgis says that he enjoys doing all types of plastic surgery procedures and doesn’t necessarily have a favorite. Whether it’s a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or Botox, Dr. Giorgis’ favorite procedure is the one that makes his patients feel the happiest. He loves to challenge himself. This is part of the reason why he chose to become a plastic surgeon. Dr. Giorgis also loves the artistic nature of being a plastic surgeon. According to Dr. Giorgis, there is really nothing more artistic than taking someone that already looks good. Making them look even better by applying their vision in the most proportional and aesthetically pleasing way.
Dr. Giorgis is excited to bring his talents to the warm, oceanside city of Miami. Being the plastic surgery mecca of the world, Miami appeals to the competitive side of Dr. Giorgis. He is excited to be working alongside the biggest and the brightest in the field. He is helping patients achieve their best selves. Dr. Giorgis is thrilled to be a part of the organized, cool, and connected environment at Mia Aesthetics. Here, he can challenge himself even further.
When he is not at work, you can find Dr. Giorgis “scoring goals” while playing his favorite sport and pastime, soccer. The only time he watches TV is to watch a sports match. Whether it be football, soccer, or basketball, or to educate himself on one of the many scientific topics he is interested in. Dr. Giorgis is also heavily involved in the community. He spends his Saturdays at the local library mentoring young men and guiding them to achieve their academic goals. For him, giving back to the community in any way he can is deeply gratifying.
When asked what his greatest accomplishment in life is, Dr. Giorgis says becoming a plastic surgeon is his greatest feat. He sees no distinction between his job and his life – his job IS his life. For that reason, he puts immeasurable pride, joy, and care into each and every procedure he conducts and into every patient he sees.
